Ninja of the Month 2025

Kula Karate Ninja of the Month is a showcase of the talented young people in our community. The power and spirit of our youth is limitless, and Kula thinks it's important to let other young athletes know what their peers are doing in the fitness community.

November Ninja of the Month

Sylvia Towne is Kula's November Ninja of the Month! Sylvia participates in Kula Karate’s Advanced classes and is a Junior Coach at St. Francis School. She is currently ranked a blue belt with two purple stripes! Sylvia was nominated by her Coaches for her friendliness toward all students and her dedication to her students’ and her classmates’ well-being. Sylvie greets all the obstacles put in her way with a positive attitude and it has been amazing to watch her growth in Kula Karate.


What she values most about Kula Karate is being able to work on her own individual growth with her team. Sylvia’s favorite part of Kula Karate is meeting new people and making friends.


Outside of participating in and coaching with Kula Karate, Sylvia enjoys running and takes art and music lessons. In school, she enjoys writing and hanging out with friends.


When she grows up Sylvia wants to be a veterinarian!

October Ninja of the Month

Hayden Sooch is Kula's October Ninja of the Month! Hayden participates in the Mathews Kula Karate Club and regularly attends camps. He is currently ranked an orange belt with one orange stripe! Hayden was nominated by his coaches because of his positive attitude and the way he leads by example in class. Hayden is always working to improve his technique and help out anyone in class who might need it.


What Hayden values most about Kula Karate is improving his skills and technique. His favorite thing about Kula is playing games and learning Martial Arts.


Hayden’s favorite part of school is Math! Outside of Karate Hayden participates in Golf, Baseball, Soccer, LEGO Club, and Wicked Workshop Architecture.


When he grows up Hayden wants to be a Black Belt with really impressive skills!

September Ninja of the Month

Mikey Jeffrey is Kula Karate's September Ninja of the Month! He was nominated by his coaches for his infectious confidence and outstanding dedication. So outstanding that Mikey did a whole month of summer camp with Kula Karate this year!


Mikey is an orange belt with two yellow stripes and what he values most about Kula Karate is “learning self defense from coach Harris, he says we learn karate so we don’t have to use it”. Outside of our club, Mikey loves running club with coach Miller and is starting computer coding club. He also does flag football and loves to swim.


Mikey can make friends anywhere he goes! His favorite things about Kula are “hanging out with coach Harris and meeting other people!”. At school he loves “Seeing Mrs Daniel and my buddies!!”. When Mikey grows up he wants to be in the Navy!

August Ninja of the Month!

Clara Wise is Kula Karate's August Ninja of the Month! Clara first started Kula Karate as an older white belt, but ranked up quickly by taking extra classes! By the end of her 5th grade year at Casis, she earned two yellow stripes on her orange belt, was helping to lead younger students in TWO weekly karate classes, and had earned an invitation to the Intermediate & Advanced classes that meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays! 


Clara has participated in the Casis and WAYA karate clubs as well as many camps. She is not only a star student, but Clara is also a natural leader and often finds herself in a junior coach role, whether she planned it or not! 


She plans to keep up her karate development in middle school as she starts 6th grade as an Ann Richards "Star," and hopes to try out the Wednesday Trilogy class at Austin Rec Center.

July Ninja of the Month!

Quinn Shah is Kula's July Ninja of the Month! Quinn participates in Kula Karate @ WAYA as well as participates in Kula Karate Camps. He is currently ranked a white belt with two orange stripes!  Quinn was nominated by his coaches because Quinn’s positive attitude and infectious energy lights up every karate class he participates in. He shows outstanding determination, impressive skill, and never fails to make us laugh!


Quinn values most about Kula Karate is his time with friends and learning new skills each week. His favorite thing about Kula is learning new karate skills, meeting new kids, and his coaches who he thinks are so fun.


Quinn's favorite thing about school is learning math and learning new words. When he grows up, Quinn wants to be a builder since he loves making things with Legos.


Aside from Kula Karate, Quinn also plays soccer at Waya with his friends from school. Quinn has two older siblings, four dogs, and he was born in Canada!

June Ninja of the Month!

Cole Beavers is Kula's June Ninja of the Month! Cole has been participating in Kula Karate for over 6 years and is in Kula's Advanced Group. She is currently ranked a purple belt with two brown stripes!  Cole was nominated by her coaches because Cole has been working so hard for some many years in Kula classes. She always has a smile on her face and a postive attitude, is a great role model for other students, and her skills keep getting better and better. 


Cole values most about Kula Karate is that Kula has helped her learn to be focused and how to push herself and and take things seriously. Her favorite thing about Kula is it's a good group of students and coaches who are supportive, helpful, and fun! 


Cole's favorite thing about school is the teachers! She loves the teachers (and her classmates as well). She won a math competition at school when her math teacher figured out that she is motivated by spite, so challenged her to beat him.


Cole is fencing several days a week and takes one or two parkour classes.  At school, she is in the theater tech crew and the No Place 4 Hate committee. Cole volunteers every month or so through Generation Serve and spends most of her time at home being gnawed on by our dogs.

May Ninja of the Month!

Nora Clipp is Kula's May Ninja of the Month! Nora participates in Kula Karate at Casis Elementary and she is currently ranked an orange belt with one yellow stripe!  Nora was nominated by her coaches because, "Nora is a hard worker with intense focus and determination! She's always ready to answer a question, demonstrate a technique, or help out a classmate. Every coach that meets Nora is so impressed by her positive attitude!"


Nora values most about Kula Karate that it’s really fun and helps her learn new skills. Her favorite thing about Kula is the coaches, as she loves them since they are really nice.


Nora's favorite thing about school is everything! She loves math, writing, friends, and having fun! When she grows up, Nora wants to be a teacher, vet and chef...and baby sitter.  Aside from Kula Karate, Nora participates in soccer, basketball, Girl Scouts, running club, steam club, and game club.

April Ninja of the Month!

Corbin Clarke is Kula Karate's April Ninja of the Month! Corbin is a graduating senior and Brown Belt in Kula's Advanced class. He has been studying under Master Wayne for 10 years! Corbin was nominated by the Kula Karate team for his years of commitment and dedication to improving his Martial Arts skills. We are all so proud of the outstanding young man he has become.


The thing Corbin has valued most about Kula is the discipline required. His favorite things to do in class are sparring, breaking boards, and learning new forms.


Corbin is a bassoonist in his High School band program and an Eagle Scout. Corbin wants to be a professional bassoonist and play in an orchestra. He will be studying Music Performance at McGill University in Montreal this coming Fall.

March Ninja of the Month!

Ward Fallon is Kula's March Ninja of the Month! Ward participates in Kula Karate at St. Francis School, and he is currently a white belt with one orange stripe! Ward was nominated by his coaches because of his outstanding discipline and dedication. Coach Harris says, “He is an exceptionally hard worker with laser focus. He's so dedicated that he often spends game time working with coaches on memorizing his forms!" Ward may not have his orange belt yet, but he already has multiple forms memorized!


Ward values how Kula Karate has helped him “learn to focus” and “not get distracted!" His favorite thing about Kula is learning forms and participating in meditation.


Ward's favorite thing about school is PE and playing soccer at recess! Outside of Kula, Ward is a hockey player. He learned to skate and play hockey after watching his hometown team, the Vegas Golden Knights, win the Stanley Cup 2 years ago. Ward wants to be a hockey player when he grows up! Additionally, Ward is an enthusiastic member of Earth Native Wilderness Camp, a huge fan of Harry Potter, and loves his golden retriever named Glory.

February Ninja of the Month!

Mara Spriggs is Kula's February Ninja of the Month! Mara participates in Kula Karate at Redeemer Lutheran, and she is currently ranked an orange belt!  Mara was nominated by her coaches because Mara is always a great example in class and is super supportive and encouraging to the other students. Coach Marly says, "I remember one time another kid was having trouble with his front kick and she told him that 'it's okay, I didn't get it on the first try either - just keep trying!"


Mara values learning karate with other kids and that Kula coaches make learning karate fun! Her favorite thing about Kula is making new friends, learning how to do a snap kick, and having good balance.


Mara's favorite thing about school is learning science, her friends, and the playground! When she grows up, Mara wants to be a veterinarian. Aside from Kula Karate, Mara participates in i9 soccer and Kids Acting Studio. Additionally, Mara loves attending Sunday school and playing with her two dogs Louie and Mayday.

January Ninja of the Month!

Wolfgang Mata is Kula's January Ninja of the Month! Wolfgang participates in Kula Karate at Highland Park, and he is currently ranked a white belt with two orange stripes.  Wolfgang was nominated by his coaches because Master Wayne says, "Wolfgang is a pretty awesome little dude," and Coach Marly says, "Wolfgang is always on top of his game during class!"


Wolfgang values and loves the tradition of the art and his favorite thing about Kula is the games at the end of class and the Ninja of the Day recognition.


Wolfgang's favorite thing about school is recess, choice centers, and when he gets to play with his friends! When he grows up, Wolfgang wants to be an astronaut, president, or an actor. Aside from Kula Karate, Wolfgang has recently fallen in love with chess. He also participates in the Soccer Shots program.
